Oh, I know whats up, our values don't apply to them. Simple!

Well, myTown paper had an article about the phone seizures(Phone seizure heavy-handed). In an article May 15,2013 in the opinion section, the paper blasted the Obama administration calling it a heavy-handed move, that secretly seized two months worth of phone records  from our blessed A.P. monopoly.

I give them credit for opening up their pie hole.

In the article they cite two references from U.S Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black in 1971:

"The press was protected so that it could bare the secrets of government and inform the people."

So, we have a secret government. What's new with that? You have a problem with that, move. Get out of the business, A.P.

Here's the second Black blurb:

"The Founding Fathers gave the free press the protection it must have to fulfill it's essential role in our democracy. The press was to serve the governed, not the governors."

Our new woman senator Deb Fischer(who beat Bobby Kerrey, thank god) demanded accountability and added, "the effect of this data gathering  is clear: intimidation of the press and the suppression of free speech."

Oh sure, "the government cited national security concerns as it fought unsuccessfully stop newspapers from publishing stories about the Pentagon Papers and about the public being mislead about key aspects of the Vietnam war."

Our paper says Justice Black's reasoning in that case rings true today.

While the opine hits the target they forget just one thing: This has been going on since the floundering fathers time.

Nothings changed.

Whatever happened to, lead by example or take the high road? You know, values that we've been taught?

I'm sorry, but I'm not a door mat.

Revenge, that's what I'm talking about.
